TOPORS (topoisomerase I-binding RS protein) was identified in a a yeast two-hybrid screen for proteins that bind the N-terminus of topoisomerase I. TOPORS contains a RING-type zinc-finger domain and an RS-rich region. TOPORS has been found to possess both ubiquitin and SUMO-1 E3 ligase activity. It can ubiquitinate and sumoylate p53 and may possibly function as a tumor suppressor. Defects in TOPORS are the cause of retinitis pigmentosa type 31.
Description (Vector)
TOPORS encodes a nuclear protein which is serine and arginine rich, and contains a RING-type zinc finger domain. It is highly expressed in the testis, and functions as an ubiquitin-protein E3 ligase. Mutations in this gene are associated with retinitis pigmentosa type 31. Alternatively spliced transcript variants, encoding different isoforms, have been observed for this locus.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years).
