human BCL-xL shRNA Adenovirus
This is an pre-made gene silencing adenovirus that expresses a shRNA to knockdown human BCL-xL gene. The shRNA expression is driven by an U6 promoter.
The knockdown of this human gene was validated by western blot in A549 cells.

Description (eCommerce)
Bcl-xL is part of the BCL-2 family of proteins that regulates apoptosis and cell cycle control. Bcl-xL is the protein product of the larger alternatively spliced isoform of Bcl-x. Bcl-xL functions similarly to BCL2 in promoting cell survival and inhibiting proliferation by promoting G0 arrest. Bcl-xL is located in the outer mitochondrial membrane and promotes cell survival by preventing mitochondrial release of cytochrome c and caspase activation in response to apoptotic signals.
Description (Vector)
BCL2L1 belongs to the BCL-2 protein family. BCL-2 family members form hetero- or homodimers and act as anti- or pro-apoptotic regulators that are involved in a wide variety of cellular activities. The proteins encoded by this gene are located at the outer mitochondrial membrane, and have been shown to regulate outer mitochondrial membrane channel (VDAC) opening. VDAC regulates mitochondrial membrane potential, and thus controls the production of reactive oxygen species and release of cytochrome C by mitochondria, both of which are the potent inducers of cell apoptosis. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants, which encode distinct isoforms, have been reported. The longer isoform acts as an apoptotic inhibitor and the shorter form acts as an apoptotic activator.

About Storage Conditions
All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity.
We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
