MAP1B is one of the founding members of the MAP (microtubule-associated protein) family of proteins involved in microtubule assembly. MAP1B is almost exclusively expressed in the developing brain and is critical for axon formation. MAP1B-null mice exhibit an absence of the corpus collosum and impaired axon development. MAP1B is processed by proteolytic cleavage that leads to the generation of a 300 kDa heavy chain and a 32 kDa LC1 light chain.

MAP1B encodes a protein that belongs to the microtubule-associated protein family. The proteins of this family are thought to be involved in microtubule assembly, which is an essential step in neurogenesis. The product of this gene is a precursor polypeptide that presumably undergoes proteolytic processing to generate the final MAP1B heavy chain and LC1 light chain. Gene knockout studies of the mouse microtubule-associated protein 1B gene suggested an important role in development and function of the nervous system.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt.
