Description (eCommerce)
c-Kit is the receptor for stem cell factor (mast cell growth factor). It is a transmembrane receptor with tyrosine-protein kinase activity. Binding of the ligands leads to the autophosphorylation of the c-Kit receptor and its association with substrates such as phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (Pi3K) [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) www.uniprot.org/uniprot/ P10721].
Description (Vector)
KIT encodes the human homolog of the proto-oncogene c-kit. C-kit was first identified as the cellular homolog of the feline sarcoma viral oncogene v-kit. This protein is a type 3 transmembrane receptor for MGF (mast cell growth factor, also known as stem cell factor). Mutations in this gene are associated with gastrointestinal stromal tumors, mast cell disease, acute myelogenous lukemia, and piebaldism. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
