Steroid receptor RNA activator 1 (SRA) was originally identified as a functional non-coding RNA that has been shown to be a coactivator of steroid receptors for androgens (AR), estrogens (ER), glucocorticoids, and progestins (PR). SRA exists in ribonucleoprotein complexes with steroid receptor coactivators (SRCs) and steroid receptors and may modulate transcriptional specificity. A 236 amino-acid protein encoded by an SRA-RNA isoform has also been identified. The SRA protein (SRAP) is widely expressed in breast cancer cell lines and breast cancer and has been demonstrated to modify the activity of the estrogen receptor.
Description (Vector)
Both long non-coding and protein-coding RNAs are transcribed from this gene, and they represent alternatively spliced transcript variants. This gene was initially defined as a non-coding RNA, which is a coactivator for several nuclear receptors (NRs) and is associated with breast cancer. It has now been found that this gene is involved in the regulation of many NR and non-NR activities, including metabolism, adipogenesis and chromatin organization. The long non-coding RNA transcripts interact with a variety of proteins, including the protein encoded by this gene. The encoded protein acts as a transcriptional repressor by binding to the non-coding RNA.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
