Gene Reference Data

Alternate Names
CGI-97; ribosome maturation protein SBDS; SBDS, ribosome assembly guanine nucleotide exchange factor; SDS; Shwachman-Bodian-Diamond syndrome protein; SWDS
Description (eCommerce)
Shwachman-Bodian-Diamond Syndrome/SBDS is required for the assembly of mature ribosomes and ribosome biogenesis. Together with EFTUD1, it triggers the GTP-dependent release of EIF6 from 60S pre-ribosomes in the cytoplasm, thereby activating ribosomes for translation competence by allowing 80S ribosome assembly and facilitating EIF6 recycling to the nucleus, where it is required for 60S rRNA processing and nuclear export. SBDS is required for normal levels of protein synthesis. It may play a role in cellular stress resistance and cellular response to DNA damage. It may also play a role in cell proliferation [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) www.uniprot.org/uniprot/Q9Y3A5].
Description (Vector)
SBDS encodes a member of a highly conserved protein family that exists from archaea to vertebrates and plants. The encoded protein may function in RNA metabolism. Mutations within this gene are associated with Shwachman-Bodian-Diamond syndrome. An alternative transcript has been described, but its biological nature has not been determined. SBDS has a closely linked pseudogene that is distally located.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
