Description (eCommerce)
RE1-Silencing Transcription Factor (REST) is a transcriptional repressor that silences neuronal gene expression in non-neuronal cells by binding to the neuron-restrictive silencer element (NRSE). REST is a Kruppel-type zinc finger transcription factor that mediates repression through its interaction with the mSin3 and CoREST corepressors and the HDAC1 and HDAC2 histone deacetylases.
Description (Vector)
REST encodes a transcriptional repressor that represses neuronal genes in non-neuronal tissues. It is a member of the Kruppel-type zinc finger transcription factor family. It represses transcription by binding a DNA sequence element called the neuron-restrictive silencer element. The protein is also found in undifferentiated neuronal progenitor cells and it is thought that this repressor may act as a master negative regular of neurogenesis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
