The E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase synoviolin is also known as human HRD1. The original HRD1 (HMG-CoA reductase degradation) gene was identified as a mutant gene in yeast deficient for the degradation of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGR). Homology between the human and yeast gene is limited to the N-terminal domain of the proteins, and human HRD1/Synoviolin does not appear to be involved in the degradation of mammalian HMGR. Synoviolin is involved in endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-associated degradation. It removes unfolded proteins, accumulated during ER stress, by retrograde transport to the cytosol from the ER. This protein also uses the ubiquitin-proteasome system for additional degradation of unfolded proteins.

SYVN1 encodes a protein involved in endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-associated degradation. The encoded protein removes unfolded proteins, accumulated during ER stress, by retrograde transport to the cytosol from the ER. This protein also uses the ubiquitin-proteasome system for additional degradation of unfolded proteins. Sequence analysis identified two transcript variants that encode different isoforms.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
