Alternate Names
3-oxoacid CoA transferase; 3-oxoacid CoA-transferase 1; epididymis secretory sperm binding protein; OXCT; SCOT; SCOT-s; somatic-type succinyl-CoA:3-oxoacid CoA-transferase; succinyl CoA:3-oxoacid CoA transferase; succinyl-CoA:3-ketoacid coenzyme A transferase 1, mitochondrial; succinyl-CoA:3-ketoacid-CoA transferase
Description (eCommerce)
OXCT1 is a key enzyme for ketone body catabolism. OXCT1 transfers the CoA moiety from succinate to acetoacetate. Formation of the enzyme-CoA intermediate proceeds via an unstable anhydride species formed between the carboxylate groups of the enzyme and substrate [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) www.uniprot.org/uniprot/P55809].
Description (Vector)
OXCT1 encodes a member of the 3-oxoacid CoA-transferase gene family. The encoded protein is a homodimeric mitochondrial matrix enzyme that plays a central role in extrahepatic ketone body catabolism by catalyzing the reversible transfer of coenzyme A from succinyl-CoA to acetoacetate. Mutations in this gene are associated with succinyl CoA:3-oxoacid CoA transferase deficiency.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
