Alternate Names
negative elongation factor A; NELF-A; P/OKcl.15; WHSC2; wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome candidate 2 protein
Description (eCommerce)
NELFA (negative elongation factor A) is one of four subunits that make up the NELF transcription elongation factor. The four subunits of NELF are NELF A (WHSC2), NELFB, either NELFC or NELFD, and NELFE. NELF, along with DRB sensitivity-inducing factor (DSIF), functions to cause transcriptional pausing of RNA polymerase II. NELFA may play a role in Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome (WHS).
Description (Vector)
WHSC2 is expressed ubiquitously with higher levels in fetal than in adult tissues. It encodes a protein sharing 93% sequence identity with the mouse protein. Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome (WHS) is a malformation syndrome associated with a hemizygous deletion of the distal short arm of chromosome 4. WHSC2 is mapped to the 165 kb WHS critical region, and may play a role in the phenotype of the WHS or Pitt-Rogers-Danks syndrome. The encoded protein is found to be capable of reacting with HLA-A2-restricted and tumor-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes, suggesting a target for use in specific immunotherapy for a large number of cancer patients. This protein has also been shown to be a member of the NELF (negative elongation factor) protein complex that participates in the regulation of RNA polymerase II transcription elongation.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
