Gene Reference Data

Alternate Names
MEG1; PP4(Rmeg); PP4R1; serine/threonine phosphatase 4; serine/threonine-protein phosphatase 4 regulatory subunit 1
Description (eCommerce)
PPP4R1 is a regulatory subunit associated with the PP4 serine/threonine protein phosphatase catalytic subunit PPP4C. PPP4C is structurally related to PP2AC but does not associate with the same regulatory subunits. PPP4C associates with either the PPP4R1 or PPP4R2 regulatory subunit. The PPP4C/PPP4R1 phosphatase has been demonstrated to co-purify with histone deacetylase HDAC and regulate its activity.
Description (Vector)
PPP4R1 encodes one of several alternate regulatory subunits of serine/threonine protein phosphatase 4 (PP4). The protein features multiple HEAT repeats. This protein forms a complex with PP4RC. This complex may have a distinct role from other PP4 complexes, including regulation of HDAC3 (Zhang et al., PMID: 15805470). There is also a transcribed pseudogene on chromosome 20. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
