Alternate Names
ARF1GEF; BFA-resistant GEF 1; Golgi-specific brefeldin A-resistance guanine nucleotide exchange factor 1
Description (eCommerce)
GBF1 is a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) that promotes the exchange of GDP for GTP on ADP ribosylation factor 5(ARF5). GBF1 activity is inhibited by brefeldin, an antibiotic that interferes with protein transport. It has been show to be important to golgi assembly and the coordination of bidirectional transport. Due to these characteristics, GBF1 is also called Golgi-specific brefeldin A-resistance GEF 1.
Description (Vector)
GBF1 encodes a member of the Sec7 domain family. The encoded protein is a guanine nucleotide exchange factor that regulates the recruitment of proteins to membranes by mediating GDP to GTP exchange. The encoded protein is localized to the Golgi apparatus and plays a role in vesicular trafficking by activating ADP ribosylation factor 1. The encoded protein has also been identified as an important host factor for viral replication. Multiple transcript variants have been observed for this gene.

About Storage Conditions
All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity.
We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
