Several protein tyrosine kinases have been identified within the Src gene family. On the basis of their associations with specific cell surface receptors, Src gene family members play critical roles in various signal transduction pathways. The highest levels of expression of the prototype member of this gene family, Src p60, are observed in platelets and in neuronal tissues. In contrast to Lck, which is expressed in T lymphocytes and natural killer cells, Lyn is expressed at highest levels in macrophages, platelets and B lymphocytes. Fyn is expressed in two different forms due to mutually exclusive splicing of alternative seventh exons. One form is expressed in the brain and the other in T lymphocytes. Yes p62 is broadly expressed in a wide range of cell types while c-Fgr p55 is preferentially expressed in cells of hematopoietic origin of the myeloid lineage. The Hck gene is expressed predominantly in cells of myeloid and B lymphocyte lineages. Blk is expressed in B lymphocytes, and Rak (also designated Frk in human, Gtk in rat and Bsk in mouse) is expressed in tissues of lymphoid, brain, breast, colon and bladder origin.

Description (Vector)
LCK is a member of the Src family of protein tyrosine kinases (PTKs). The encoded protein is a key signaling molecule in the selection and maturation of developing T-cells. It contains N-terminal sites for myristylation and palmitylation, a PTK domain, and SH2 and SH3 domains which are involved in mediating protein-protein interactions with phosphotyrosine-containing and proline-rich motifs, respectively. The protein localizes to the plasma membrane and pericentrosomal vesicles, and binds to cell surface receptors, including CD4 and CD8, and other signaling molecules. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been described.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
