Description (eCommerce)
Transcription elongation factor B polypeptide 3 (TCEB3), also known as Elongin A, was identified as a factor that could increase the catalytic rate of Pol II transcription elongation. Transcription elongation is one step in the multistage process of transcription that involves the polymerization of nucleoside monophosphates into a ribonucleotide transcript catalyzed by Pol II. Successful elongation requires factors that promote sufficient elongation rates and processivity. TCEB3 or Elongin A is part of a heterotrimeric complex, Elongin (SIII) that includes Elongin A, B, and C and facilitates transcription elongation by suppressing transient pausing by Pol II.
Description (Vector)
TCEB3 encodes the protein elongin A, which is a subunit of the transcription factor B (SIII) complex. The SIII complex is composed of elongins A/A2, B and C. It activates elongation by RNA polymerase II by suppressing transient pausing of the polymerase at many sites within transcription units. Elongin A functions as the transcriptionally active component of the SIII complex, whereas elongins B and C are regulatory subunits. Elongin A2 is specifically expressed in the testis, and capable of forming a stable complex with elongins B and C. The von Hippel-Lindau tumor suppressor protein binds to elongins B and C, and thereby inhibits transcription elongation.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
