Alternate Names
ATG6; ATG6 autophagy related 6 homolog; beclin 1 (coiled-coil, moesin-like BCL2-interacting protein); beclin 1, autophagy related; beclin1; beclin-1; coiled-coil myosin-like BCL2-interacting protein; Protein GT197; testis secretory sperm-binding protein Li 215e; VPS30
Description (eCommerce)
Beclin 1 was initially identified as a Bcl-2 interacting protein. Beclin 1 has been found to play a role in autophagy, the process whereby cellular structures, organelles, and intracellular pathogens undergo degradation. As an interacting protein of Bcl-2, beclin is able to influence Bcl-2 to function as an autophagy protein.
Description (Vector)
Beclin-1 participates in the regulation of autophagy and has an important role in development, tumorigenesis, and neurodegeneration (Zhong et al., 2009 (PubMed 19270693)).(supplied by OMIM, Jul 2010)

About Storage Conditions
All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity.
We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
