Alternate Names
epididymis secretory sperm binding protein; G6PD; G6PD1; glucose-6-phosphate 1-dehydrogenase
Description (eCommerce)
Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) is a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of glucose-6-phosphate into 6-phosphgluconolactone and maintains the levels of the electron donor, NADPH. G6PD is an x-linked housekeeping gene whose deficiency can result in neonatal jaundice, acute hemolysis, or chronic non-spherocytic hemolytic anemia.
Description (Vector)
G6PD encodes glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase. This protein is a cytosolic enzyme encoded by a housekeeping X-linked gene whose main function is to produce NADPH, a key electron donor in the defense against oxidizing agents and in reductive biosynthetic reactions. G6PD is remarkable for its genetic diversity. Many variants of G6PD, mostly produced from missense mutations, have been described with wide ranging levels of enzyme activity and associated clinical symptoms. G6PD deficiency may cause neonatal jaundice, acute hemolysis, or severe chronic non-spherocytic hemolytic anemia. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
