SETDB1 (SET domain, bifurcated 1) is a member of the SET (SuVar3-9, enhancer of Zeste, Trithorax) domain-containing protein family that functions as a histone and DNA methyltransferase. SETDB1 was identified through its interaction with ERG (ets-related gene) and KAP1 (KRAB-associated protein1) and was later demonstrated to interact with HDAC1/2 (histone deacetylase 1/2), DNA methyltransferase 3s (DNMT3s), mSin3A/3B, HP1, and MBD1. SETDB1 is suggested to play a role in transcriptional repression important to early development.
Description (Vector)
SETDB1 encodes a histone methyltransferase which regulates histone methylation, gene silencing, and transcriptional repression. SETDB1 has been identified as a target for treatment in Huntington Disease, given that gene silencing and transcription dysfunction likely play a role in the disease pathogenesis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been described.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt.
