Description (eCommerce)
The kinesin superfamily of proteins consists of forty five KIF motor proteins that function in intracellular transport along microtubules. Kinesin activity has been linked to various cellular functions such as vesicle transport, mitotic spindle formation, chromosome segregation, chromosome congression, and cytokinesis.  Structurally, all kinesins contain a motor domain with microtubule and nucleotide binding sites that utilize ATP to target cargo along microtubule filaments.  KIF22/KID has been demonstrated to be required for proper chromosome alignment at the metaphase plate as well as spindle formation.
Description (Vector)
KIF22 is a member of the kinesin-like protein family. The family members are microtubule-dependent molecular motors that transport organelles within cells and move chromosomes during cell division. The C-terminal half of this protein has been shown to bind DNA. Studies with the Xenopus homolog suggests its essential role in metaphase chromosome alignment and maintenance. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
