Description (eCommerce)
WNK3 (With No Lysine 3) is a member of the WNK family of serine-threonine kinases which includes WNK1, WNK2, WNK3, and WNK4. The WNK family of kinases has been observed to play a role in several cellular processes which include ion balance, signal transduction, survival, proliferation and organ development. WNK3 appears to play a role in NaCl, water, and blood pressure homeostasis but has properties distinct from the other WNK family members. WNK3 is expressed throughout the nephron, particularly at intercellular junctions, and its kinase activity has been shown to regulate the activity of ion transporters such as the Na-K-2Cl and Na-Cl co-transporters.
Description (Vector)
WNK3 encodes a protein belonging to the 'with no lysine' family of serine-threonine protein kinases. These family members lack the catalytic lysine in subdomain II, and instead have a conserved lysine in subdomain I. This family member functions as a positive regulator of the transcellular Ca2+ transport pathway, and it plays a role in the increase of cell survival in a caspase-3-dependent pathway. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

About Storage Conditions
All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity.
We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
