Alternate Names
SK 1; sphingosine kinase 1; SPHK; SPK 1
Description (eCommerce)
Sphingosine kinase 1 (SPHK1) catalyzes the phosphorylation of sphingosine to yield sphingosine-1-phosphate (SPP). SPP functions as a lipid signaling molecule that mediates both intra- and extra-cellular responses. SPHK1activity may play a role in several cellular processes such as apoptisis, proliferation, inflammation, and migration.
Description (Vector)
SPHK1 catalyzes the phosphorylation of sphingosine to form sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), a lipid mediator with both intra- and extracellular functions. Intracellularly, S1P regulates proliferation and survival, and extracellularly, it is a ligand for cell surface G protein-coupled receptors. This protein, and its product S1P, play a key role in TNF-alpha signaling and the NF-kappa-B activation pathway important in inflammatory, antiapoptotic, and immune processes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
