Description (eCommerce)
PMVK is a peroxisomal enzyme that is a member of the galactokinase, homoserine kinase, mevalonate kinase, and phosphomevalonate kinase (GHMP) family of ATP-dependent enzymes. PMVK protein catalyzes the conversion of mevalonate 5-phosphate to mevalonate 5-diphosphate, which is the fifth step in the mevalonate pathway of isoprenoid biosynthesis [taken from NCBI Entrez Gene (Gene ID: 10654)].
Description (Vector)
PMVK encodes a peroxisomal enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of mevalonate 5-phosphate into mevalonate 5-diphosphate, the fifth reaction of the cholesterol biosynthetic pathway. Studies in rat show that the message level and the enzyme activity of this protein is regulated by sterol, and that this regulation is coordinated with 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme of cholesterol biosynthesis.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
