Gene Reference Data
Alternate Names
MAP-4; microtubule-associated protein 4
Description (eCommerce)
Microtubule-associated protein 4 (MAP4) is part of the structural MAP2/Tau family of microtubule-binding proteins which includes MAP2, Tau, and MAP4. MAP4 is widely-expressed in various non-neuronal tissues. However, a neural-cell specific variant generated by alternative splicing has been identified. MAP4 is multifunctional and plays a role in regulating mitotic microtubule dynamics. It associates with cyclin B1 and is regulated via its phosphorylation by cdk2.
Description (Vector)
MAP4 is a major non-neuronal microtubule-associated protein. This protein contains a domain similar to the microtubule-binding domains of neuronal microtubule-associated protein (MAP2) and microtubule-associated protein tau (MAPT/TAU). This protein promotes microtubule assembly, and has been shown to counteract destabilization of interphase microtubule catastrophe promotion. Cyclin B was found to interact with this protein, which targets cell division cycle 2 (CDC2) kinase to microtubules. The phosphorylation of this protein affects microtubule properties and cell cycle progression. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

About Storage Conditions
All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity.
We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
