Alternate Names
DNA ligase 3; DNA ligase III; LIG2; LIG3alpha; ligase II, DNA, ATP-dependent; ligase III, DNA, ATP-dependent; polydeoxyribonucleotide synthase ATP 3
Description (eCommerce)
DNA ligase III catalyzes the joining of DNA ends during DNA strand-break repair. DNA ligase III interacts with the DNA-repair factor XRCC1 to function in base excision repair (BER). DNA ligase III has also been shown to play a required role in microhomology-mediated end-joining of double-strand breaks.
Description (Vector)
LIG3 is a member of the DNA ligase family. Each member of this family encodes a protein that catalyzes the joining of DNA ends but they each have a distinct role in DNA metabolism. The protein encoded by this gene is involved in excision repair and is located in both the mitochondria and nucleus, with translation initiation from the upstream start codon allowing for transport to the mitochondria and translation initiation from a downstream start codon allowing for transport to the nucleus. Additionally, alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
