Gene Reference Data

Alternate Names
bcl-2-associated transcription factor 1; BCLAF1 and THRAP3 family member 1; bK211L9.1; BTF
Description (eCommerce)
BTF is a transcriptional repressor that interacts with Bcl-2 related proteins to promote apoptosis. BTF has also been found to interact with emerin, a nuclear protein implicated in the muscle wasting disease Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy.
Description (Vector)
BCLAF1 encodes a transcriptional repressor that interacts with several members of the BCL2 family of proteins. Overexpression of this protein induces apoptosis, which can be suppressed by co-expression of BCL2 proteins. The protein localizes to dot-like structures throughout the nucleus, and redistributes to a zone near the nuclear envelope in cells undergoing apoptosis. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
