Alternate Names
anaphase-promoting complex subunit 5; APC5; cyclosome subunit 5
Description (eCommerce)
APC5 is a component of the anaphase-promoting complex (APC). The APC complex functions as an ubiquitin ligase that controls cell cycle progression and promotes the transition from metaphase to anaphase. The APC complex is composed of at least 11 APC components. APC5 may serve a scaffolding role that connects the enzymatic core APC subunits with the regulatory APC subunits.
Description (Vector)
ANAPC5 encodes a tetratricopeptide repeat-containing component of the anaphase promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C), a large E3 ubiquitin ligase that controls cell cycle progression by targeting a number of cell cycle regulators such as B-type cyclins for 26S proteasome-mediated degradation through ubiquitination. The encoded protein is required for the proper ubiquitination function of APC/C and for the interaction of APC/C with transcription coactivators. It also interacts with polyA binding protein and represses internal ribosome entry site-mediated translation. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. These differences cause translation initiation at a downstream AUG and result in a shorter protein (isoform b), compared to isoform a.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
