Description (eCommerce)
SYK (spleen tyrosine kinase) is a ubiquitously expressed tyrosine kinase that functions in mediating B and T-cell receptor signaling and is also important to various aspects of leukocyte function that involve cytoskeleton remodeling. In mediating hematopoietic cell signaling, SYK is a substrate of src family kinase activity and is a key-regulator of Akt kinase activity. SYK has also been found to be highly expressed in the mammary gland and has been shown to inhibit tumor growth and metastasis. Invasive breast tumor cell lines have been shown to exhibit reduced or absent levels of SYK, further implicating a role in tumorigenesis and metastasis.
Description (Vector)
SYK encodes a member of the family of non-receptor type Tyr protein kinases. This protein is widely expressed in hematopoietic cells and is involved in coupling activated immunoreceptors to downstream signaling events that mediate diverse cellular responses, including proliferation, differentiation, and phagocytosis. It is thought to be a modulator of epithelial cell growth and a potential tumour suppressor in human breast carcinomas. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
