Description (eCommerce)
SLC6A15 functions as a sodium-dependent neutral amino acid transporter. It exhibits preference for the branched-chain amino acids, particularly leucine, valine and isoleucine and methionine. SLC6A15 mediates the saturable, pH-sensitive and electrogenic cotransport of proline and sodium ions with a stoichiometry of 1:1. It may have a role as transporter for neurotransmitter precursors into neurons. In contrast to other members of the neurotransmitter transporter family, SLC6A15 does not appear to be chloride-dependent [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) www.uniprot.org/uniprot/Q9H2J7].
Description (Vector)
SLC6A15 encodes a member of the solute carrier family 6 protein family which transports neutral amino acids. The encoded protein is thought to play a role in neuronal amino acid transport (PMID: 16185194) and may be associated with major depression (PMID: 21521612). Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
