Description (eCommerce)
Rho-associated protein kinase 1 (ROCK1), also known as Rho kinase beta, is a serine-threonine protein kinase that plays an important role in cellular apoptosis, growth, cell motility and cell contraction. ROCK1 shares an overall 65% homology in amino acid sequence with ROCK2. The ROCK1 and ROCK2 isoforms are products of two separate genes. Both ROCK1 and ROCK2 are downstream targets of the Rho A small GTP-binding protein. As downstream effectors of RhoA, ROCK1 and ROCK2 mediate changes in the actin cytoskeleton via phosphorylation of target proteins such as the MBS subunit of MLCP, MLC, ERM proteins, protein LIM kinase and adducin.
Description (Vector)
ROCK1 encodes a protein serine/threonine kinase that is activated when bound to the GTP-bound form of Rho. The small GTPase Rho regulates formation of focal adhesions and stress fibers of fibroblasts, as well as adhesion and aggregation of platelets and lymphocytes by shuttling between the inactive GDP-bound form and the active GTP-bound form. Rho is also essential in cytokinesis and plays a role in transcriptional activation by serum response factor. This protein, a downstream effector of Rho, phosphorylates and activates LIM kinase, which in turn, phosphorylates cofilin, inhibiting its actin-depolymerizing activity.

About Storage Conditions
All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity.
We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
