Alternate Names
DNA repair protein RAD50; hRad50; NBSLD; RAD50 homolog, double strand break repair protein; RAD502
Description (eCommerce)
Rad50 is a component of the Mre11-Rad50-Nbs1 (MRN) complex that repairs DNA double strand breaks during DNA damage and homologous recombination and activates the S-phase checkpoint. Rad50 shows structural similarity to the structural maintenance of chromosomes (SMC) family of proteins. Rad50 has been shown to directly interact with BRCA2, TERF2IP, and ATM.
Description (Vector)
RAD50 is highly similar to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Rad50, a protein involved in DNA double-strand break repair. This protein forms a complex with MRE11 and NBS1. The protein complex binds to DNA and displays numerous enzymatic activities that are required for nonhomologous joining of DNA ends. This protein, cooperating with its partners, is important for DNA double-strand break repair, cell cycle checkpoint activation, telomere maintenance, and meiotic recombination. Knockout studies of the mouse homolog suggest this gene is essential for cell growth and viability. Mutations in this gene are the cause of Nijmegen breakage syndrome-like disorder.

About Storage Conditions
All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity.
We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
