Description (eCommerce)
SAE2 (SUMO-activating enzyme subunit 2) is also known as UBA2 (ubiquitin-like modifier activating enzyme 2). Heterodimers of SAE1 and SAE2 act as an E1 ligase for SUMO1, SUMO2, SUMO3, and probably SUMO4. Heterodimers mediate ATP-dependent activation of SUMO proteins followed by formation of a thioester bond between a SUMO protein and a conserved active site cysteine residue on UBA2/SAE2 [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) www.uniprot.org/uniprot/ Q9UBT2].
Description (Vector)
Posttranslational modification of proteins by the addition of the small protein SUMO (see SUMO1; MIM 601912), or sumoylation, regulates protein structure and intracellular localization. SAE1 (MIM 613294) and UBA2 form a heterodimer that functions as a SUMO-activating enzyme for the sumoylation of proteins (Okuma et al., 1999 (PubMed 9920803)).(supplied by OMIM, Mar 2010)

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
