Description (eCommerce)
DDB1 (DNA Damage Binding Protein 1) is a subunit of the DNA damage-binding protein complex (DDB) involved in DNA repair. As part of a complex with Cul4-based ubiquitin ligase, Cul4-Ddb1 can directly modify chromatin through the ubiquitination of histones as well as ubiquitinate other chromatin bound factors. A deficiency in Cul4-Ddb1 ubiquitin ligase has been associated with xeroderma pigmentosum, a heritable disease characterized by defects in nucleotide excision repair and skin cancer development.
Description (Vector)
DDB1 is the large subunit (p127) of the heterodimeric DNA damage-binding (DDB) complex while another protein (p48) forms the small subunit. This protein complex functions in nucleotide-excision repair and binds to DNA following UV damage. Defective activity of this complex causes the repair defect in patients with xeroderma pigmentosum complementation group E (XPE) - an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by photosensitivity and early onset of carcinomas. However, it remains for mutation analysis to demonstrate whether the defect in XPE patients is in this gene or the gene encoding the small subunit. In addition, Best vitelliform mascular dystrophy is mapped to the same region as this gene on 11q, but no sequence alternations of this gene are demonstrated in Best disease patients. DDB1 also functions as an adaptor molecule for the cullin 4 (CUL4) ubiquitin E3 ligase complex by facilitating the binding of substrates to this complex and the ubiquitination of proteins.

About Storage Conditions
All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity.
We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
