Ca2+/CaM-dependent protein kinase 4 (CamK4) is a member of the Ca2+/CaM-dependent protein kinases that functions as an activator of Ca2+-dependent transcription mediated by factors such as CREB, ATF-1, SRF, MEF2D, and others. Protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) has been shown to associate with CamK4 to negatively regulate the kinase activity of CamK4 and subsequent activation of gene transcription.

The product of this gene belongs to the serine/threonine protein kinase family, and to the Ca(2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase subfamily. This enzyme is a multifunctional serine/threonine protein kinase with limited tissue distribution, that has been implicated in transcriptional regulation in lymphocytes, neurons and male germ cells.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
