Description (eCommerce)
Rad21, also called SCC1 (sister chromatid cohesion protein 1), is part of the mitotic cohesin complex that consist of SMC1, SMC3, SCC3 and SCC1. The cohesin complex is important to sister chromatid separation and segregation during mitosis and meiosis and also plays a role in double-strand break repair by homologous recombination. Rad21 has been demonstrated to be cleaved by caspase proteins to trigger sister chromatid separation and during apoptotic signaling.
Description (Vector)
RAD21 is highly similar to the gene product of Schizosaccharomyces pombe rad21, a gene involved in the repair of DNA double-strand breaks, as well as in chromatid cohesion during mitosis. This protein is a nuclear phospho-protein, which becomes hyperphosphorylated in cell cycle M phase. The highly regulated association of this protein with mitotic chromatin specifically at the centromere region suggests its role in sister chromatid cohesion in mitotic cells.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
