Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor delta (PPARd) belongs to the nuclear receptor superfamily, which includes the steroid hormone, thyroid hormone, retinoid, and PPAR subfamilies as well as a growing number of orphan receptors. They function as ligand-dependent sequence-specific activators of transcription. When the PPAR is activated, transcription is increased. However, PPAR can also suppress a number of genes. The function of PPARs depends on the shape of their ligand-binding domain and their co-activators and co-repressors. Ligands for the PPARs include free fatty acids and eicosanoids.

Three types of PPARs have been identified: alpha, gamma and delta. PPARd, identical to PPARb, is expressed in many tissues but markedly in brain, adipose tissue and skin. All PPARs dimerize with the retinoid X-receptor (RXR) and bind to PPREs (peroxisome proliferator response elements), which generally occurs in the promoter region of a gene. The GFP tagged to PPARd will allow the determination of the amount and location of PPARd expression.

This adenovirus contain PPARdelta with GFP.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
