GCF (GC-rich sequence DNA-binding factor) was identified as a factor that bound to GC-rich sequences and repressed transcription of the epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor, beta-actin, and calcium-dependent protease promoters. Since its initial cloning and characterization, GCF has been observed to be a transcriptional repressor of several growth factor/receptor genes.
Description (Vector)
The first mRNA transcript isolated for this gene was part of an artificial chimera derived from two distinct gene transcripts and a primer used in the cloning process (see Genbank accession M29204). A positively charged amino terminus present only in the chimera was determined to bind GC-rich DNA, thus mistakenly thought to identify a transcription factor gene.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
