Alternate Names
homolog of mouse quaking QKI (KH domain RNA binding protein); Hqk; hqkI; protein quaking; QK; QK1; QK3; QKI/LOC100132735 fusion; quaking homolog, KH domain RNA binding; RNA binding protein HQK
Description (eCommerce)
QKI is an RNA-binding protein and translational repressor important to embryogenesis and myelination. QKI exist as multiple isoforms with distinct functions that regulate pre-mRNA splicing and the stability of proteins central to oligodendrocyte differentiation. QKI has been identified as a candidate gene in schizophrenia.
Description (Vector)
QKI is an RNA-binding protein that regulates pre-mRNA splicing, export of mRNAs from the nucleus, protein translation, and mRNA stability. The encoded protein is involved in myelinization and oligodendrocyte differentiation and may play a role in schizophrenia. Four transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
