The gene that encodes KANK1 (KN motif and ANKyrin repeat-domain-containing protein 1) was originally identified in a chromosomal region that exhibited loss of heterozygosity in renal cell carcinoma. KANK1 bears five ankyrin repeats and a conserved motif at the N-terminus which contains motifs for nuclear localization and export signals (KN-motif). It functions to regulate actin stress fiber formation and has been found to be a substrate of Akt and to bind 14-3-3.
Description (Vector)
KANK1 belongs to the Kank family of proteins, which contain multiple ankyrin repeat domains. This family member functions in cytoskeleton formation by regulating actin polymerization. This gene is a candidate tumor suppressor for renal cell carcinoma. Mutations in this gene cause cerebral palsy spastic quadriplegic type 2, a central nervous system development disorder. A t(5;9) translocation results in fusion of the platelet-derived growth factor receptor beta gene (PDGFRB) on chromosome 5 with this gene in a myeloproliferative neoplasm featuring severe thrombocythemia. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. A related pseuodgene has been identified on chromosome 20.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt.
