ZAP-70 (zeta associated protein 70) is a tyrosine kinase of the Src family of tyrosine kinases. It was initially identified as a partner of the zeta chain of the CD3 complex associated to the T-cell receptor on T-lymphocytes. ZAP-70 shares homology with spleen-tyrosine kinase (Syk), a kinase involved in B-cell activation. Both ZAP-70 and Syk have been shown to be crucial to B- and T-lymphocyte development. In T-cells ZAP-70 functions to transduce the signaling cascade activated by T-cell receptor engagement and activation.
Description (Vector)
ZAP70 encodes an enzyme belonging to the protein tyrosine kinase family, and it plays a role in T-cell development and lymphocyte activation. This enzyme, which is phosphorylated on tyrosine residues upon T-cell antigen receptor (TCR) stimulation, functions in the initial step of TCR-mediated signal transduction in combination with the Src family kinases, Lck and Fyn. This enzyme is also essential for thymocyte development. Mutations in this gene cause selective T-cell defect, a severe combined immunodeficiency disease characterized by a selective absence of CD8-positive T-cells. Two transcript variants that encode different isoforms have been found for this gene.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
