Septin 2 is a filament-forming cytoskeletal GTPase. Septin 2 is required for normal organization of the actin cytoskeleton and plays a role in the biogenesis of polarized columnar-shaped epithelium by maintaining polyglutamylated microtubules, thus facilitating efficient vesicle transport, and by impeding MAP4 binding to tubulin. It is required for the progression through mitosis, and it forms a scaffold at the midplane of the mitotic splindle required to maintain CENPE localization at kinetochores and consequently chromosome congression. During anaphase, Septin 2 may be required for chromosome segregation and spindle elongation. Septin 2 also plays a role in ciliogenesis and collective cell movements [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) www.uniprot.org/uniprot/Q15019].

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
