Alternate Names
Oncogene PIM1; PIM; pim-1 kinase 44 kDa isoform; pim-1 oncogene (proviral integration site 1); proto-oncogene serine/threonine-protein kinase pim-1; serine/threonine-protein kinase pim-1
Description (eCommerce)
PIM1 is a member of the PIM family of proto-oncogenes that functions as a distinct class of serine/threonine protein kinases involved in growth factor signaling. PIM1 was originally identified as a target of proviral activation in T-cell lymphomas induced by Moloney murine leukemia virus. PIM1 appears to play a role in many aspects of cell growth, proliferation, and apoptosis. PIM1 is required for efficient cell cycle induction of peripheral T-cells in response to IL-2 signaling. PIM1 substrates include p21 cip1/waf1, CDC25A, PTP-U2, NuMA, and PAP-1.
Description (Vector)
PIM1 belongs to the Ser/Thr protein kinase family, and PIM subfamily. This gene is expressed primarily in B-lymphoid and myeloid cell lines, and is overexpressed in hematopoietic malignancies and in prostate cancer. It plays a role in signal transduction in blood cells, contributing to both cell proliferation and survival, and thus provides a selective advantage in tumorigenesis. Both the human and orthologous mouse genes have been reported to encode two isoforms (with preferential cellular localization) resulting from the use of alternative in-frame translation initiation codons, the upstream non-AUG (CUG) and downstream AUG codons (PMIDs:16186805, 1825810).

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
