Gene Reference Data

Alternate Names
c-myc binding protein; c-Myc-binding protein Mm-1; MM1; MM-1; Myc modulator 1; myc modulator-1; PFD5; prefoldin subunit 5
Description (eCommerce)
Myc modulator 1 (MM-1) is also known as Prefoldin subunit 5. MM-1 binds specifically to cytosolic chaperonin (c-CPN) and transfers target proteins to it. MM-1 binds to nascent polypeptide chain and promotes folding in an environment in which there are many competing pathways for non-native proteins. MM-1 has been show to represses the transcriptional activity of MYC [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) www.uniprot.org/uniprot/Q99471].
Description (Vector)
PFDN5 encodes a member of the prefoldin alpha subunit family. The encoded protein is one of six subunits of prefoldin, a molecular chaperone complex that binds and stabilizes newly synthesized polypeptides, thereby allowing them to fold correctly. The complex, consisting of two alpha and four beta subunits, forms a double beta barrel assembly with six protruding coiled-coils. The encoded protein may also repress the transcriptional activity of the proto-oncogene c-Myc. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
