Leucine-zipper and sterile-alpha motif kinase (ZAK) is a mitogen activated protein kinase kinase kinase involved in the S and G2 phase cell cycle checkpoint. ZAK has been shown to activate the stress-activated protein kinase (c-jun N-terminal kinase) pathway and NF-kappaB. It has also been found to be a key mediator of cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and myocardial scars.
Description (Vector)
ZAK is a member of the MAPKKK family of signal transduction molecules and encodes a protein with an N-terminal kinase catalytic domain, followed by a leucine zipper motif and a sterile-alpha motif (SAM). This magnesium-binding protein forms homodimers and is located in the cytoplasm. The protein mediates gamma radiation signaling leading to cell cycle arrest and activity of this protein plays a role in cell cycle checkpoint regulation in cells. The protein also has pro-apoptotic activity. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized.

About Storage Conditions
All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity.
We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
