Gene Reference Data

Alternate Names
5'-3' exoribonuclease 1; SEP1; strand-exchange protein 1 homolog
Description (eCommerce)
5’-3’ exoribonuclease 1 (XRN1) is a ribonuclease localized in the cytoplasm that functions in mRNA metabolism and is found in messenger ribonucleoprotein (mRNP) complexes. The mouse and yeast homologs of XRN1 are Dhm2 and SEP1 respectively. In a glial cell line, XRN1 is induced by glial cell line–derived growth factor (GDNF) and associates with microtubules. XRN1 has also been identified as a candidate tumor suppressor gene in osteogenic sarcoma.
Description (Vector)
SEP1 localizes to cytoplasmic foci containing a complex of mRNA-degrading enzymes. In addition to mRNA metabolism, yeast Sep1 has been implicated in a variety of nuclear and cytoplasmic functions, including homologous recombination, meiosis, telomere maintenance, and microtubule assembly.(supplied by OMIM, Apr 2004)

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
