70 kDa ribosomal protein S6 kinase I (p70S6K) encodes a member of the ribosomal S6 kinase family that phosphorylates the 40 S ribosomal subunit protein S6 and eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4B (eIF4B). p70S6 functions in the PI3K and mTOR pathway to induce protein synthesis and cell growth and proliferation in response to growth factors. S6K2 is an isoform of p70S6K.
Description (Vector)
RPS6KB1 encodes a member of the RSK (ribosomal S6 kinase) family of serine/threonine kinases. This kinase contains 2 non-identical kinase catalytic domains and phosphorylates several residues of the S6 ribosomal protein. The kinase activity of this protein leads to an increase in protein synthesis and cell proliferation. Amplification of the region of DNA encoding this gene and overexpression of this kinase are seen in some breast cancer cell lines. Alternate translational start sites have been described and alternate transcriptional splice variants have been observed but have not been thoroughly characterized.

About Storage Conditions
All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity.
We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
