Description (eCommerce)
MST4/STK24 is a member of the sterile 20 (Ste20)-like kinase family that acts upstream of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways and regulates c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), p38 and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK). Ste20-like kinases are involved in a variety of cellular processes which include gene transcription, stress responses, cytoskeletal organization and apoptosis. In response to apoptotic signals, MST4/MASK is cleaved by caspase-3 and mediates apoptosis. MST4/MASK has been shown to influence cell growth and transformation by modulating ERK (extracellular signal-regulated kinase) signaling and may play a role in prostrate cancer. MST4/MASK may also play a role in cell motility.
Description (Vector)
The product of this gene is a member of the GCK group III family of kinases, which are a subset of the Ste20-like kinases. The encoded protein contains an amino-terminal kinase domain, and a carboxy-terminal regulatory domain that mediates homodimerization. The protein kinase localizes to the Golgi apparatus and is specifically activated by binding to the Golgi matrix protein GM130. It is also cleaved by caspase-3 in vitro, and may function in the apoptotic pathway. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been described, but the full-length nature of some of these variants has not been determined.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
