Description (eCommerce)
ALIX (ALG-2 interacting protein X) is thought to participate in programmed cell death. Studies using mouse cells have shown that overexpression of ALIX can block apoptosis. ALIX has been shown to bind to the PDCD6 (programmed cell death 6 interacting protein), a protein required for apoptosis, in a calcium-dependent manner. ALIX also binds to endophilins, proteins that regulate membrane shape during endocytosis [taken from NCBI Entrez Gene (Gene ID: 10015].
Description (Vector)
PDCD6IP encodes a protein that functions within the ESCRT pathway in the abscission stage of cytokinesis, in intralumenal endosomal vesicle formation, and in enveloped virus budding. Studies using mouse cells have shown that overexpression of this protein can block apoptosis. In addition, the product of this gene binds to the product of the PDCD6 gene, a protein required for apoptosis, in a calcium-dependent manner. PDCD6IP product also binds to endophilins, proteins that regulate membrane shape during endocytosis. Overexpression of this gene product and endophilins results in cytoplasmic vacuolization, which may be partly responsible for the protection against cell death. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosome 15.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
