Gene Reference Data

Alternate Names
non-homologous end-joining factor 1; nonhomologous end-joining factor 1; protein cernunnos; XLF; XRCC4-like factor
Description (eCommerce)
XRCC4-like factor (XLF) functions in DNA nonhomologous end joining (NHEJ) in double-strand break repair and immune system V(D)J recombination. Mutations of XLF in humans have been documented to result in immunodeficiency, growth retardation, and microcephaly. The yeast of homolog of XLF is Nej1. XLF has been shown to interact with the XRCC4 x DNA-ligase IV complex and is implicated in the DNA religation step of the NHEJ pathway.
Description (Vector)
Double-strand breaks in DNA result from genotoxic stresses and are among the most damaging of DNA lesions. This gene encodes a DNA repair factor essential for the nonhomologous end-joining pathway, which preferentially mediates repair of double-stranded breaks. Mutations in this gene cause different kinds of severe combined immunodeficiency disorders.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
