SAPS1 is a regulatory subunit of the PP6 phosphatase. There are 3 human SAPs (sit4-associated proteins), SAPS1, SAPS2, and SAPS3. The human SAPs are related to SAPs found in yeast that associate with the sit4 phosphatase which is the homolog of human PP6 phosphatase. In yeast sit4 and its associated SAPs are involved in a variety of processes which include transcription, translation, bud formation, glycogen metabolism, ion homeostasis, and telomere function. SAPS1 mRNA has been found to be overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinoma, metastatic liver tumors, and lymphoblastic leukemia.

Protein phosphatase regulatory subunits, such as SAPS1, modulate the activity of protein phosphatase catalytic subunits by restricting substrate specificity, recruiting substrates, and determining the intracellular localization of the holoenzyme. SAPS1 is a regulatory subunit for the protein phosphatase-6 catalytic subunit (PPP6C; MIM 612725) (Stefansson and Brautigan, 2006 (PubMed 16769727)).(supplied by OMIM, Nov 2010)

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
