Gene Reference Data

Alternate Names
45 kDa-splicing factor; RNA-binding motif protein 17; SPF45; splicing factor 45; splicing factor 45kDa
Description (eCommerce)
Splicing factor 45 (SPF45) is an RNA splicing factor that binds to the single stranded 3'AG at the exon/intron border and promotes its utilization in the second catalytic step. SPF45 is involved in the regulation of alternative splicing and the utilization of cryptic splice sites. It has been shown to promote the utilization of a cryptic splice site created by the beta-110 mutation in the human beta-thalassemia gene. The resulting frameshift leads to sickle cell anemia [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) www.uniprot.org/uniprot/Q96125].
Description (Vector)
RBM17 encodes an RNA binding protein. The encoded protein is part of the spliceosome complex and functions in the second catalytic step of mRNA splicing. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. Related pseudogenes exist on chromosomes 9 and 15.

About Storage Conditions

All our viral products should be kept at -80°C. At this temperature, the virus will remain stable for 6-12 months (and in some cases, up to 2 years). Once thawed, the product can be stored at 4°C for 2-3 weeks without significant loss of biological activity. We recommend aliquoting your vectors into low protein binding tubes upon receipt. This helps avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, as well as prevent loss of virus. To maintain accurate titer, aliquot in at least 20ul per tube.
